Recently, the National Cultural Heritage Administration issued a letter and formally agreed to include the "Ten Thousand-Li Tea Road" into the "China¡¯s World Cultural Heritage Tentative List". The application involves 8 provinces (autonomous region) in China. Hunan section has 23 cultural heritage sites, with 8 key ones. Yunxi District of Yueyang City is listed as a key site.

Yueyang has launched the world cultural heritage application for the ¡°Tea Road¡± Yueyang section since 2015. The ¡°Tea Road", a trade route comparable to the ancient Silk Road, ran about 13,000 kilometers. Chinese tea was exported by land to Mongolia, Russia and the hinterland of Europe.

Historically, Yunxi District, a must-have place for Hunan tea export, has played an important role along the ¡°Tea Road¡±. Relevant department head of Yunxi District related that recorded documents and unearthed cultural relics all suggested Yueyang was a key node city along the ¡°Tea Road¡±.

Lucheng Town of Yunxi District was originally under the jurisdiction of Linxiang County. It was one of the most important commercial port and private bank for tea trading from the Tang Dynasty to 1930. Datouji Site, located in the town, was an important port along the Yangtze River waterway. It played a vital role in tea distribution along the ¡°Tea Road¡±.
