2021 Yueyang International Tourism Festival to Be Held
The 2021 Yueyang International Tourism Festival will be held on November 27. A variety of cultural tourism activities will be arranged, including a wetland music festival and the first reed festival. This will help showcase ecological resources of the east Dongting Lake, build an eco-culture tourism brand, and promote Yueyang¡¯s cultural tourism development. The Dongting Lake Wetland Music Festival will be held on a big lawn at Dongting Lake Town between November 27 and 28. It is the first of its kind in China that takes interaction as the core. About 4,000 people of the post-70s, -80s, -90s, and -00s generations will participate. They are from schools, public institutions, and communities, recruited via online and offline modes.
A camping event with 200 tents accommodating 1,000 people will be held at 21:00 on November 27 through 9:00 the next morning. Professional instructors of the Hunan Astronomical Association will give lectures on basic astronomy knowledge and observe stars with astronomical telescopes along with participants.
The first Yueyang Dongting Lake Wetland Reed Festival will be launched on November 27 and last till January 2022.
The event pursues harmony between human and nature and focuses on rural revitalization, to showcase the achievements in protecting the Yangtze River and the Dongting Lake.
Art exhibitions, food culture, wetland protection, intangible cultural heritage, and folk customs will be presented to help people learn more about reed and its role. Immersed experiences will provide tourists with folk culture charm of Junshan Island.
Eight parent-kid activities will be held, including reed-themed handicraft competition; meeting Yangtze finless porpoise; farmers¡¯ harvest festival; campfire party; low-altitude flight over reed fields; intangible cultural heritage bazaar; ¡°Taste of Junshan¡± food festival; and, ¡°Junshan Impression¡± cultural creative products fair. More options will be offered for family trips, to enable tourists to learn about ecological situations, history, and culture of the Dongting Lake. These help increase the popularity of cultural tourism of Yueyang.
