Hunan Sees 10 Mln Tourist Visits During National Day Holiday

On October 7, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism told that during the National Day holiday, there was a strong holiday atmosphere in various places of the province, and people were enthusiastic about traveling. Tourism consumption demand affected by the epidemic during the summer vacation was released intensively, with more than 10 million tourist trips to Hunan made.

As of 18:00 on October 7, a total of 107 provincially-monitored A-level scenic spots received 9,944,600 tourist trips in seven days, an increase of 38.08% year-on-year; the scenic spots generated operating income of 1.698 billion yuan, an increase of 45.25% year-on-year. A total of 65 rural tourist areas received 1.5371 million tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 61.29%, and realized operating income of 228 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.27%. A total of 173 accommodations received 206,300 tourist arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 0.81%, and realized operating income of 105 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.41%. Bed occupancy rate of monitored accommodations was 75.02%, of which the bed occupancy rate of homestays and B&Bs reached 93.84%. A total of 189 cultural venues received 1.0381 million tourist trips, a year-on-year increase of 8.38%. In terms of the number of tourist arrivals, Hunan¡¯s top three scenic spots were Nanyue Scenic Area in Hengyang, Lushan Mountain Scenic Area, and Orange Isle Scenic Area in Changsha.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Red tourism has become a must for many tourists. Yang Kaihui Memorial Hall received more than 50,000 tourist trips in total. The number of real-name reservations at Shazhou Red Tourism Scenic Area in Chenzhou reached daily visitor cap for days, and Shaoshan and other red tourist attractions were packed with tourists. Tourists from inside the province have become the main force, accounting for 78.4%, amid regular epidemic prevention and control. Special tourism and new forms of tourism such as self-driving tours, short trips, rural tours, and leisure tours have become the mainstream of holiday tourism. Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua and Eastern Hunan Tourism Economic Belt have attracted a large number of self-driving tourists. Short-distance self-driving tourists in Yongzhou accounted for more than 80% of the total.

New cultural tourism products and activities "ignited" new consumption. Aizhai-Shibadong-Dehang Canyon Scenic Area has launched five new high-altitude experience projects, including via ferrata, walk in the clouds, high-altitude swing, and bungee jumping. Ticket proceeds of the scenic area has increased by about 20% year-on-year. Tourism in Zhangjiajie has been recovered, and products such as Zhangjiajie vine tea, Sangzhi white tea, and kudzu root powder have been popular in public welfare livestreaming events.
