China Three Gorges Corporation Inspects Yangtze River Protection in Yueyang

On the afternoon of July 20, Han Jun, general manager of China Three Gorges (CTG) Corporation and Zheng Jian, deputy director of the Department of Basic Industries of the National Development and Reform Commission paid a visit to Yueyang to inspect the city’s efforts in protecting the Yangtze River. They were here to attend on-site meetings on prominent environmental problems rectification along the Yangtze River Economic Belt and a meeting on CTG participating in well-coordinated environmental conservation of the Yangtze River.

Li Zuofeng, vice mayor of Yueyang City, and Luo Yueli, second-level inspector of the Standing Committee of the Yueyang Municipal People's Congress attended.

Han Jun and Zheng Jian visited Junshan District and Yueyang Tower District to inspect the construction of the most beautiful bank of the Yangtze River, Dongfeng Lake environmental treatment, and urban “water steward” of Qingniandi storage pond. At the Junshan marathon circuit, Han Jun and Zheng Jian listened to a brief report on the following work: keeping President Xi Jinping’s wishes to protect well the Yangtze River in mind; building the beautiful bank of the Yangtze River; protecting mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, and lakes; and, fostering a new format for green development.

At the Dongfeng Lake Tourist Service Center, Han Jun and Zheng Jian listened to the report on the environmental treatment of Dongfeng Lake, and learned about Yueyang’s efforts in environmental problems rectification and the results of deepening central-local cooperation. At the central control room of Qingniandi storage pond on Dongfeng Lake, Han Jun and Zheng Jian learned about the operation of the plant-network-station-pond smart integrated drainage monitoring platform.

It is hoped that CTG and Yueyang will continue to deepen cooperation in protecting the Yangzte River and building a green development demonstration zone, establish a new mechanism for prioritizing ecological conservation and boosting green development, and contribute to the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
