Du Jiahao, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, unveil the nameplate of the zone.

The Unveiling Ceremony and Constructing Mobilization Conference of the China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone was held in Changsha on the morning of September 24. Du Jiahao, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, unveiled the nameplate of the zone. Li Weiwei, chairwoman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended.

Wu Lan, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, read the State Council¡¯s decision. Provincial leaders Fu Kui, Huang Lanxiang, Wang Shaofeng, Zhang Jianfei, Feng Yi, Zhang Hongsen, Li Dianxun, Yao Laiying, and Liu Lianyu were present.

Hu Henghua, standing committee member of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee; Xie Jianhui, standing committee member of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor; Yi Pengfei, vice chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Chenzhou Municipal Committee; and, leaders of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, spoke at the conference.

Du Jiahao, Xu Dazhe, and Wu Lan granted the nameplates to the Changsha, Chenzhou, and Yueyang sub-areas respectively. 

The Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone covers an area of 119.76 square kilometers, consisting of three sub-areas in Changsha, Yueyang, and Chenzhou.

The Changsha sub-area, 79.98 square kilometers, highlights its airport economy, and aims to grow into a world-class advanced equipment manufacturing base, a high-end modern inland area service industry center, a pilot area for deepening economic and trade cooperation with Africa, and a new growth pole in central China.

The Yueyang sub-area, 19.94 square kilometers, focuses on port economy, and aims to build itself into a comprehensive shipping logistics center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and an inland port economic demonstration zone.

The Chenzhou sub-area, 19.84 square kilometers, gives priority to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction, and aims to become an important inland platform to undertake industrial transfer and transformation and upgrading of processing trade, and a demonstration zone for cooperation between Hunan and Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone will serve the state development plan based on Hunan¡¯s characteristics, and give play to its geographical advantages, to implement the innovation-driven and opening-up development strategy. An overall layout of ¡°one industry, one zone, and one corridor¡± will be rolled out. ¡°One industry¡± refers to establishing a world-class advanced manufacturing cluster; ¡°one zone¡± refers to a pilot zone for in-depth China-Africa economic and trade cooperation; and, ¡°one corridor¡± is an international investment and trade corridor linking the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The attendees also included leaders of related departments of municipal and prefecture governments, central government offices in Hunan, and provincial government departments; persons in charge of Changsha, Yueyang, and Chenzhou¡¯s related departments; and, representatives of counties, districts, and industrial parks and zones.
