2020 Yueyang Science and Technology Week Kicks off

On September 1, the 2020 Yueyang Science and Technology Week kicked off at the Hailifang Ocean Park. The event was hosted by the Yueyang Municipal People's Government and organized by the Yueyang Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology. The theme of the week is "prevailing over an epidemic with science and technology, and empowering the country with innovation."

At the launching ceremony, academician workstations for 2018 and 2019, key laboratories, engineering technology research centers, technology business incubators, and city-level science popularization bases were awarded.

The content and forms of activities are different from the previous ones due to COVID-19 prevention and control. During the week, science popularization events focus on showcasing the significant role of science and technology in China's battle against COVID-19. A variety of activities will be carried out, including popular science explanations, experimental demonstrations, and hands-on impartations, to popularize basic scientific knowledge and common technical methods and promote healthy lifestyles. Manuals would be handed out to publicize self-protection measures on COVID-19 prevention and control.
