At 9 am on August 10, the first round of inspections and law enforcement operations in the Yangtze River basin with a high incidence of illegal fishing was launched simultaneously in 13 cities and one prefecture across Hunan. The move was arranged according to the plans of the Hunan Provincial Public Security Department and the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. At 9:36 am, in accordance with the unified arrangement of the Hunan Provincial Public Security Department, the Yueyang Public Security dispatched more than 80 law enforcement personnel, 4 law enforcement vessels, 3 speedboats, and 4 drones to inspect Sanjiangkou.

Zhang Zhihui, deputy head of the Water Police Detachment of the Yueyang Municipal Public Security Bureau, said that the city will carry out half-month law enforcement operations in the waters with a high incidence of illegal fishing, and conduct phased inspections of key areas of the Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River in Hunan, to ensure that fishing bans can be implemented smoothly and fish resources in the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake basins will be protected.
