Governor Xu Inspects Yueyang for Flood Prevention and Relief

Xu meets with E Jingping, deputy general director of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and also minister of water resources, who is on an inspection tour in Hunan.

On July 26, Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, inspected flood prevention work and visited working staff at the flood prevention frontlines in Yueyang. He stressed strengthening sense of risks and responsibility, making good preparations for a protracted war against flood, and safeguarding people's lives and property.

Xu met with E Jingping, deputy general director of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and also minister of water resources, who was on an inspection tour in Hunan.

Ma Jianhua, deputy general director of the Yangtze River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and also director of the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources; Sui Zhongcheng, vice governor of Hunan; and, Wang Qun, secretary general of the Hunan Provincial People¡¯s Government, attended.

Governor Xu visited Junshan District to inspect flood prevention arrangement and material reserves at the frontline dams; went to Dongting Lake Dam Liangcang Lake section to learn about landslide threats and treatment, and care about working staff at the flood prevention frontlines; and, inspected Huarong County for flood prevention work on the major dam along Huarong River.

Governor Xu expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Water Resources for its long-term concerns on and supports to Hunan. He introduced Hunan¡¯s flood situations and disaster prevention and relief work. Hunan has firmly implemented President Xi Jinping¡¯s important instructions on putting people first and valuing people's lives most in the combat against floods, he noted. Flood prevention and disaster relief work are organized orderly to protect people¡¯s lives and property. Hunan is still facing tough flood situations as a new round of heavy rains approaches. All departments should, in the light of the national and ministerial authorities¡¯ requirements, make precise prediction and scientific arrangement; underline risk prevention in key regions; and, guarantee supplies, so as to win the battle against the floods. He hoped the national water resources authorities will continue to guide and support Hunan to improve its compressive ability in disaster prevention and relief.

Director E pointed out that, Hunan has paid high attention to water resource management, and carried out efficient and effective preparations for this year¡¯s flood prevention and relief. In the coming days, rainfalls and flood situation will be even tougher. Hunan ought to coordinate reservoir management, fulfill territorial responsibility in dam protection, make good labor, supply, and facility preparations, and remain vigilant and never slacken efforts. The Ministry of Water Resources will stand with Hunan to do a good job in flood prevention and relief.
