On June 7, Yueyang Mayor Li Aiwu hosted a flood prevention and preparation meeting at the Yueyang Municipal Flood Control and Drought Relief Command Center. She listened to reports on current rainfall and water conditions, and mobilized, arranged, and emphasized current flood control importance again. Deputy Mayor Yang Kun, Secretary-General Liu Chuanhan, and persons in charge of relevant departments attended.

Since the beginning of this year, the city's precipitation has been slightly increased. Since May 29, the province has entered a new round of rainwater concentration period, and there have been two rounds of heavy rainfalls. According to the forecast of the meteorological and hydrological department, Hunan province will still be in a relatively concentrated period of rainwater in the next week. The water conservancy department predicts that the water level of Chenglingji around June 20 may reach about 30 meters.

Mayor Li spoke highly of Yueyang¡¯s flood prevention work since the flood season came. She said Yueyang recently has witnessed continuous rainfalls, the soil moisture is saturated, the water level of the rivers and reservoirs has increased significantly, and some places have been in danger. Yueyang City has entered a critical period of flood control. Local governments at all levels should quickly enter the readiness, refine the preventive measures, and further improve the work of flood control and disaster relief.
