Yueyang Holds Working Conference on Stabilizing Foreign Trade

Yueyang held a working conference on stabilizing foreign trade on May 27. Li Aiwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and Yueyang mayor, addressed the meeting. Li called for all related department to further strengthen their sense of urgency, crisis, and mission, and shoulder the responsibility with firm confidence for taking concerted efforts to promote Yueyang¡¯s high-quality development of foreign trade economy, and maintain Yueyang¡¯s leading role province wide in opening-up.

Qiu Hong, vice mayor of Yueyang, Xie Chunsheng, director of the Economic Development Zone Management Committee, Liu Chuanhan, secretary general of the Yueyang People¡¯s Government, and related department officials attended.

The meeting summed up Yueyang¡¯s foreign trade situation. In recent years, Yueyang has taken effective measures to promote opening up and rise, which resulted in a continuous upgrade of foreign trade economy. Over the past three years, Yueyang¡¯s foreign trade grew by 51% on annual average, which was faster than the provincial and national level. The foreign trade revenue surged from 1 billion to 4 billion USD, with a provincial rank rising from 8th to third. During the first four months this year, Yueyang has maintained rapid growth in foreign trade in spite of the epidemic. The gross import and export value reached 12.08 billion yuan, up 39.3% year on year.

Persons in charge of related departments and key enterprises raised suggestions on industrial chain extension, policy support, and financial service at the meeting.
