Yueyang Promotes Waste Classification

On the morning of July 17, the Yueyang Waste Classification Youth Volunteer Service Special Training Class opened at the Public Service and Grid Center in Yueyanglou District. The city's backbone young volunteers, young social workers, and community grid workers learned about waste classification and discussed environmental protection.

This year, the four categories of garbage classification — kitchen waste, recyclable, other waste and harmful waste will be piloted in residential communities of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, the Yueyang Municipal People's Congress, the Yueyang Municipal People’s Government, the CPPCC Yueyang Municipal Committee, and the Yueyang Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau.

It will be rolled out in Yueyang’s public institutions, relevant enterprises, and residential communities when garbage sorting processes are regulated, including dumping, collection, transportation and treatment.

By 2020, the household waste classification coverage rate of urban areas will be over 40%. All public institutions should exercise garbage sorting. The harmless treatment rate of domestic garbage will reach 100%.

By 2021, waste classification will be fully implemented.
