Secretary Liu Meets with Envoys from LAC Countries

In order to further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between Yueyang and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and China Chamber of International Commerce invited envoys from Salvador, Jamaica, Uruguay and Ecuador to visit Yueyang between May 7 and 9. The Invest in Latin America Seminar and Briefing on China-LAC Business Summit (Yueyang Venue) were held simultaneously.

On May 8 morning, Liu Hesheng, secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, and the delegation had a discussion on further deepening cooperation and exchanges. The event was attended by Salvador¡¯s ambassador to China Walter Eduardo Duran Martinez, Salvador Counselor, Jamaican Minister Counsellor Cherett Campbell, Uruguayan Consul General in Guangzhou Martin Alvez, Ecuadorian Consul, CCPIT Hunan Branch Vice President Hu Qiang, and Vice Mayor Qiu Hong.

Liu Hesheng briefedly the economic and social development of Yueyang. He said that Latin America is an important import and export trade partner of Yueyang and has great potential for cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will take this event as a new starting point to further strengthen contacts and cooperation. The Yueyang government will fully support and encourage competent enterprises to invest in LAC countries. ¡°We also warmly welcome you to visit Yueyang and deepen cooperation,¡± Liu added.

Ambassador Duran made a speech on behalf of the envoys of the four countries and spoke highly of Yueyang¡¯s achievements in economic and social development. He said that Yueyang has obvious regional advantages, profound history and culture, and strong development prospects. It is a beautiful and livable city. He said, ¡°I am happy to be here for commercial promotion. I hope that through this event and previous cooperation, we will further deepen comprehensive friendly cooperation with Yueyang. We sincerely welcome Yueyang entrepreneurs to invest in LAC countries who will provide sufficient information and quality services."
