Organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, a large-scale interview activity themed ¡°reports from the Yangtze River Economic Belt¡± was held in Yueyang and Changsha from August 1 to 3. The journalists visited wharfs, enterprises and parks, and learned about Hunan¡¯s high-quality development. During the interview, they paid special attention to the following aspects.

1. Ecological civilization

The Yangtze River Economic Belt should follow the guideline of ¡°ecology first and green development¡±. The priority should be given to the management of ecological environment. Yueyang, with a 163-kilometer riverbank of the Yangtze River and over 60% of water area of Dongting Lake, is the main place for protecting and managing ecological environment of the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake. The journalist delegation visited Chenglingji New Port Area and conducted key reports on berth shutdown and ecological remediation there.

2. Intelligence industry

After visiting Sany Heavy Industry in Changsha Economic Development Zone, and the Testing Area of Intelligent System in Xiangjiang New Area on August 2 and 3, the journalist delegation commented that Changsha is a city of intelligence. In recent years, Hunan has focused on emerging competitive industries, and made special efforts in building and strengthening industry chains for 20 emerging industries including advanced rail transit equipment, engineering machinery, and new-type light alloy.

3. Cultural industry

Journalists were attracted and shocked by over 100 kinds of Hunan-published top-quality books when visiting the headquarters of China South Publishing & Media Group, and they said that the group is a dazzling pearl of culture. Hunan has made great efforts to establish a market system for modern cultural products, and build 11 competitive cultural industries including film and television media, news publication, and cartoon game. It is expected that by 2020, the gross value of cultural and creative industry in the province will reach 750 billion CNY, and the added value will exceed 300 billion CNY, accounting for 7% of the provincial GDP.

4. Making full use of Hunan¡¯s regional advantages to achieve great benefits from its golden waterway

It is reported that 80% of economic development zones and industrial parks and 81% of large and medium-sized enterprises in Hunan are surrounded by lakes or rivers. Areas with convenient water transport have become the most developed, active and promising places for Hunan¡¯s economic development.
