The First Session of the 13th Hunan Provincial People's Congress convenes at the People's Hall of Hunan Province on the morning of January 24, 2018.
Seven hundred and sixty-six deputies should be present at the session, and 760 attended. The total number meets legal requirement. CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary Du Jiahao presided over the opening meeting, and Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe made a report on the work of the Hunan Provincial People's Government.
The work report highlighted that, in the past five years, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, led by the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, persisting in the"One Belt and One Zone" orientation, and in accordance with 'three focuses' on supply-side reform, people's livelihood improvement and agricultural modernization, Hunan government has implemented the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee's decisions and plans.
It has taken the initiative to adapt to the new normal of economic development; practice the strategy of opening up and the rise of Hunan via innovation; speed up four systems construction of sci-tech and cultural innovation, modern industry, new-type urbanization, and comprehensive transportation hub; and develop five bases.
It has been pushing forward the tasks of acceleration, structure optimization, and power conversion.
It has therefore successfully accomplished the government's major objectives and tasks.
It is now forging ahead toward building Hunan into 'a province of five powers' (powerful in economy, science and education, culture, ecology, and opening up), which lays solid foundation for building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way.
