Secretary Du Jiahao Inspects Flood Control in Yueyang
On the morning of July 3, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao arrived in Yueyang City to inspect flood prevention work. He headed to Chenglingji hydrological station and Nanjingang dyke to observe the Dongting Lake Chenglingji outflow and the Nanhu Lake drainage conditions, and then held an emergency meeting on flood prevention. Provincial leaders Xie Jianhui and Huang Yuejin accompanied him on the inspection tour.
CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee Secretary Hu Zhongxiong, Yueyang Mayor Liu Hesheng, municipal leaders including Li Aiwu, Xu Xinchu, Tan Zhenghong, Huang Dajun, and Tang Wenfa either joined the tour or attended the meeting.
Secretary Du said, ˇ°The flood control and relief work in Yueyang is essential to the flood prevention of the Yangtze, Xiangjiang, Zijiang, Yuanshui, and Lishui rivers.ˇ± ˇ°We should recognize current difficulties, enhance our understanding of the overall situation, and take scientific and effective measures to discharge the Dongting Lake floods to the Yangtze River.ˇ± He mentioned, adding that in this way the current water levels of the Xiangjiang River and its tributaries would be effectively lowered.
Du asked governmental departments at all levels to prioritize flood control and relief, think in big-picture terms, and firmly implement the unified command and control of the CPC Hunan provincial committee and government, to go all out to fight against floods. In the meantime, he emphasized that through the flood control and disaster prevention, the development ideas of innovation, coordination, green, opening-up, and sharing should be established and the laws of economy, nature, and society followed, to ensure more scientific, positive, and effective flood prevention and disaster relief for the people in the future.
