The 18th Young Taiwanese Summer Camp of All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots (ACFTC) Hunan Branch opened in Yueyang on July 19, 2021. More than 70 young Taiwanese participated, including Taiwan students from Central South University, Hunan University, and Hunan Normal University; college student volunteers from Yuzhong County, a pairing-up poverty alleviation locale of ACFTC; and young people from Taiwan who are currently living in Hunan. At the opening ceremony, young students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait staged a creative flash mob show, recited the essay "Records of the Yueyang Tower", and sang "Tomorrow Will Be Better" together.

The ACFTC Young Taiwanese Summer Camp has been held for 18 consecutive sessions. It is a brand event of the national united front work system to communicate with Taiwan. The five-day summer camp is hosted by the ACFTC, and organized by the Hunan Federation of Taiwan Compatriots and Hunan Broadcasting System Media Center. It is scheduled to be held in Yueyang, Zhangjiajie, and Changsha. Campers will visit Yueyang Tower, Chenglingji New Port Area, Xinqiang River Anti-Japanese War Exhibition Hall, Qingshui Village, Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, and Hunan Broadcasting System.

A person in charge of the Hunan Federation of Taiwan Compatriots hoped that the organization of Hunan-Taiwan youth exchange activities will help Taiwan compatriots increase their understanding of the motherland, promote cross-Strait integrated development, and bring together the hearts of compatriots on both sides of the Straits.
