Chenglingji Port Container Throughput Increases by 50.98% to 308,000 TEUs in H1

It was learned from the Port Office of the Yueyang Municipal People¡¯s Government that, in the first half of this year, the container throughput of Chenglingji Port reached 308,305,500 TEUs, an increase of 50.98% over 2020. It has done more than half of the annual target task in H1.

This year, the Port Office has taken the initiative to fulfill its role of port coordination and management. It has actively coordinated and communicated with such joint inspection departments as the Yueyang Customs and the China MSA Yueyang Administration; accelerated quarantine and inspection work; improved customs clearance efficiency; and, provided active and high-quality services for bulk cargo clearance. Great efforts have been made in the following aspects:

- Maintaining close contact with large enterprises and key foreign trade companies within and outside Hunan province to introduce and promote Yueyang¡¯s policies and location advantages;

- Helping promote communication and cooperation between key port and shipping companies;

- Coordinating port and shipping companies to open route from Chenglingji to Chongqing, launching the westward development strategy of Chenglingji, and attracting foreign sources of goods to go entry and exit through the Chenglingji Port; and,

- Overcoming the high pressure of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control and difficult pilotage, and promoting regular operation of direct shipping from Chenglingji Port to Hong Kong.

The Chenglingji Port has taken a series of measures to expand supply of goods and further increase container throughput. It is expected that the annual goal of 600,000 TEUs will be completed in 2021. The container throughput of Chenglingji Port has surpassed Jiujiang Port and ranks seventh among all the ports along the Yangtze River.
