Hunan Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone Officially Approved

Recently, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Commerce formally approved the establishment of a ¡°Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone" in Hunan Province. Hunan became the fifth of its kind nationwide.

The signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation framework agreement between the National Bureau of Statistics and the People¡¯s Government of Hunan Province and the plaque-awarding ceremony of the ¡°Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone¡± were held in Changsha on July 4, 2021. Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People¡¯s Congress Standing Committee director, witnessed the ceremony. Ning Jizhe, National Development and Reform Commission deputy director and National Bureau of Statistics director, signed the agreement and presented the plaque. Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor, signed the agreement and received the plaque. Before the ceremony, Secretary Xu and Governor Mao met with Director Ning and his party.

The Hunan Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone includes three major industrial parks: Yueyang Industrial Park (Yueyang Chenglingji New Port Area), Xiangtan Industrial Park (Xiangtan Economic and Technological Development Zone), and Chenzhou Industrial Park (Chenzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone). They have different orientations:

-Yueyang Industrial Park will be the Hunan-Taiwan Electronic Information Industrial Park and a national-level Taiwan Farmer Entrepreneurship Park. Its leading industries will be electronic information and modern agriculture industries;

-Xiangtan Industrial Park will be an intelligent manufacturing cluster development zone and a modern medical equipment cluster. It will be mainly a concentrated area for Taiwan-funded enterprises;

-Chenzhou Industrial Park will be the demonstration and pilot zones for matchmaking with Taiwanese enterprises across China. Its leading industries will be non-ferrous metal new materials and electronic information industries.

The Hunan Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone will focus on advantageous industrial cooperation between Hunan and Taiwan; improve policies and measures; optimize business environment; and, further promote the integrated development of Hunan and Taiwan, to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

In the afternoon, Director Ning hosted a symposium on the economic situation of some provinces and cities in the first half of the year in Changsha. He then, accompanied by Hunan Governor Mao, inspected the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics, the National Bureau of Statistics Survey Office in Hunan Province, and the Former Site of Xinmin Institute in Changsha City.

Provincial leaders Wu Lan, Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Wu Guiying, and He Baoxiang; Mao Shengyong, chief economist and office director of the National Bureau of Statistics; and, persons in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Bureau of Statistics, and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, participated in relevant activities.
