Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Chongqing Sign 10-Year Fishing Ban Agreement

Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Chongqing signed the "Agreement on Joint Law Enforcement Cooperation in the Key Waters of the Yangtze River Basin for the 10-year Fishing BanĦħ on May 12. The agreement clarified the joint meeting system, law enforcement liaison system, joint inspection mechanism, collaborative governance mechanism, emergency coordination mechanism, and information sharing mechanism.

According to the agreement, all parties should act in conserving aquatic resources of the Yangtze and guaranteeing national ecological security, give full play to their respective functions, strengthen contact and coordination, intensify law enforcement and supervision of fishing ban in transboundary waters of the Yangtze, and create a joint management atmosphere. These efforts will help crack down on illegal crimes that destroy fishery resources, to ensure effective results in fishing ban.

Ma Yi, director of the Yangtze River Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that he hopes that a leadership team on fishing ban for Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Chongqing will take the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to strengthen law enforcement supervision on fishing ban, deepen cooperation, optimize law enforcement layout, take practical measures to improve the level and effect of law enforcement, establish law enforcement authority, and create a driving force to build a defense line for the "10-year fishing banĦħ in the Yangtze.
