Hunan Develops Tea, Fruit, Edible Mushroom Industrial Clusters

The Hunan Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (Hunan Co-op) sets 100-billion-yuan targets for Hunan tea, fruit, and edible mushroom industries each, in a bid to promote modernization of agriculture and rural areas. This was based on China¡¯s ¡°No.1 Central Document¡± for 2021 unveiled recently. 

The ¡°No.1 Central Document¡± stresses on building a modernized rural industrial system. Hunan will, in light of the deployment of the central and provincial governments and based on its featured advantages and resources, build three 100-million-yuan industrial clusters; improve modernization of industrial and supply chains; better serve issues relating to agriculture, rural areas, and rural people; and, boost rural vitalization, said Liu Xiangling, director of Hunan Co-op.

Hunan Co-op aims at the provincial government¡¯s 100-million-yuan target for Hunan tea industry, and give play to the leading role of the Hunan Tea Industry Association and the Hunan Tea Group. A ¡°colorful Hunan tea¡± brand will be created, integrating Hunan black tea, Anhua dark tea, Xiaoxiang green tea, Yueyang yellow tea, and Sangzhi white tea. Hunan tea industry will transfer its focus from increasing ¡°scale and speed¡± to pursuing ¡°quality, brand, and benefit¡±, in order to achieve an innovative, ecological, and high-quality development.

As for fruit industry, Hunan Co-op will leverage its agricultural product network to accelerate upgrade and renovation of agricultural product wholesale markets, and promote featured fruits marketing. The Hunan Fruit Association will use exhibitions to optimize industrial structure, improve product quality, expand industrial scale, and increase competitiveness of Hunan fruits. Priority will be given to developing over 20 fruit bands, including Huaihua sweet orange, Yanling yellow peach, and Xuefeng tangerine.

The Hunan Edible Mushroom Research Institution will strive to make technological breakthrough in edible mushroom breeding, and establish an edible mushroom genetic resources data bank for the province, even central and southern China. The edible mushroom association will give play to its role in product research and development and technology promotion, so as to promote ¡°Hunan mushroom¡± brand. The resources around the province will be integrated to organize a production-education-research alliance, in order to boost industrialization of research findings, and push forward vitalization of Hunan edible mushroom industry.
