Four multi-purpose container berths in the upstream of Chenglingji New Port Phase ¢ò.

The Yueyang Chenglingji New Port Phase ¢ò Project is a key water transport construction project in Hunan Province. The Hunan Port Group Co., Ltd. has invested 1.18 billion yuan to build a total of 7 berths, and supporting facilities of warehouses, storage yards, and auxiliary production facilities. Among them, three 5,000-ton general cargo berths at the downstream of New Port Phase ¢ñ have been successfully operated. Currently there are four 5,000-ton multi-purpose container berths in the upstream under construction, which will be completed next March for trial operation.

Xu Guobing, Hunan Port Group Co., Ltd. board chairman, introduced that the Project Phase ¢ò is a key to improve port functions, connect with the building of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and build a hub port and shipping logistics center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. After the project is put into production, the annual throughput capacity of Chenglingji New Port will reach 1 million TEU containers, 1.65 million tons of general cargo, and 100,000 ro-ro vehicles, which will help better serve the economic and social development of Hunan Province.

Between January and November this year, the Chenglingji New Port of the Hunan Port Group Co., Ltd. completed a total container throughput of 453,000 TEUs. In the past three months, the container volume increased by 40,000 TEUs year on year, which has far exceeded the 300,000 TEUs throughput capacity designed for the Phase ¢ñ. When the Phase ¢ò is fully put into operation, it will effectively relieve the production pressure of Phase ¢ñ, and make Chenglingji New Port one of the largest ports with a capacity of ¡°1 Million TEU¡± in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
