Water Resources Minister Inspects Flood Control Work in Yueyang

Between July 26 and 27, E Jingping, deputy general director of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and Minister of Water Resources, inspected flood control work in Yueyang City and visited frontline workers. Xu Dazhe, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Governor of Hunan Province, met with a delegation headed by E Jingping in Yueyang.

Ma Jianhua, deputy general director of the Yangtze River Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and also director of the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources; Sui Zhongcheng, vice governor of Hunan; and, Wang Qun, secretary general of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, Wang Yiou, secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, Li Aiwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and mayor of Yueyang, and Tan Zhenghong, member and secretary general of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Standing Committee, attended the meeting or accompanied the delegation on the tour.


On July 27, Director E made field visits to Xunxi District, Junshan District, and Dongting Lake levees to learn about flood control measures and efforts. He spoke highly of the work that Yueyang city has made.

Director E stressed that we must implement President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on flood control and relief work, called for governments at all levels to take responsibilities and intensify patrolling to detect and handle emergencies in an early stage and do safety hazards checking at dikes. He added that we should pay close attention to the weather conditions and water levels. More flood control measures should be made to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property. It is necessary to advance the construction of major water conservancy projects to increase storage capacity for flood control.
