Hunan Inbound and Outbound Trips Hit 3 Million

The Hunan General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection reports that, as of November 27 this year, the inbound and outbound trips made through Hunan¡¯s exit and entry frontier inspection stations this year hit three million for the first time, an increase of 16% over last year. The number of inbound and outbound means of transport was nearly 20,000, an increase of 12.5%.

Hunan¡¯s airports and seaports have seen stable increases  for ten consecutive years. In 2013, trips through Hunan reached one million for the first time; and in 2016 they doubled.

As of November 27, there were more than 2.6 million trips through Changsha Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection Station, up 10.3% over last year. Foreign passengers were 21.4% of the total and made Hunan the first among central China¡¯s six provinces (Henan, Shanxi, Hubei, Anhui, Hunan, and Jiangxi). There were nearly 330,00o trips through Zhangjiajie Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection Station, up 108.7%, making it the first among all airports in central China¡¯s six non-capital cities.

In recent years, Hunan has intensified political, economic, trade, and cultural communications with foreign countries. Air routes, inbound and outbound trips, and passenger and freight volume has soared. In 2019, Changsha opened seven new direct air routes to countries and regions, including Macao SAR, Nairobi of Kenya, Kathmandu of Nepal, and Seri Begawan of Brunei. Zhangjiajie has three new routes to Osaka of Japan, Siem Reap of Cambodia, and Manila of the Philippines. Hunan has 77 international (interregional) air routes, linking with more than 20 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania. International freight has been booming with 665 inbound and outbound cargo flights this year and an increase of 99.7% over last year.
