Yueyang government has achieved phased results since it started the waste sorting pilot project for more than a month, according to the Yueyang Municipal Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau (YMUMLEB) recently. Twenty-four sets of intelligent equipment and data platforms have been installed in 5 pilot communities. Up till now, 1,922 household two-category dustbins, 1,700 office two-category dustbins, 117 other garbage collection bins, and 2,425 residential distribution cards have been distributed. The quantity of sorted garbage reached nearly 150 tons, 100% of which has been treated according to standards.

Garbage classification is an important ¡°little thing¡± for the people's livelihood. On September 24, the city government launched a waste sorting pilot program in five residential communities of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, the Yueyang Municipal People's Congress, the Yueyang Municipal People¡¯s Government, the CPPCC Yueyang Municipal Committee, and the Yueyang Municipal Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau, chief executor of the program.

According to the ¡°four-category method¡± of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Yueyang has divided garbage into four categories: kitchen waste, other garbage, recyclables, and hazardous waste. Standard containers with signs and distinct colors to facilitate accurate delivery have been put into place. Meanwhile, it has asked for well sorting, cleaning, and tackling of the waste. The kitchen waste is collected and handled by the sanitation department via regular special transportation vehicles. Other garbage is collected by the sanitation department and transported to the city's Huaguofan landfill and incinerated at the end of this year. The recyclables will be collected and recycled by the operating units for recycling. The hazardous waste will be collected, transported, and temporarily stored by the operating units. After being accumulated to a certain amount, it will be transported to the qualified hazardous waste disposal enterprises for harmless disposal.
