Hunan Included in First Round of National Industry-Education Integration Pilot Construction Implementation Plan

The Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced on October 11, 2019 that six central ministries and commissions, including the National Development and Reform Commission, recently issued the National Industry-Education Integration Pilot Construction Implementation Plan. It says the first round will be carried out in 21 regions including Hunan.

Deepening industry-education integration and boosting organic cohesion between the education and talent chains and the industrial and innovation chains are strategic measures. This will assist mutual connection, coordination, and contribution of the education-first development, the talents-oriented progress, the industrial innovation advancement, and the high-quality economy growth.

The first pilot areas were Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Sichuan, Shaanxi, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Ningbo, Qingdao, and Shenzhen.

Provincial governments and pilot cities will focus on industry-education integration systems and model innovations, and highlight improving development planning and resource allocation, promoting personnel training reform, reducing institutional transaction costs, building innovative platform platforms, and exploring institutional mechanism innovation. They were asked to coordinate pilot projects, implement supporting policies, and strengthen organization and implementation, to assure pilot targets are achieved as scheduled.

It was learned from the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission that the province will recommend pilot cities as required and report to the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education for pilot construction.
