China in the New Era: Innovative Hunan, Embracing the World

The Event of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Presenting Hunan Province was held in the South Building of the MFA on the afternoon of September 12, 2019. The theme was "China in the New Era: Innovative Hunan, Embracing the World".

Two hundred and twenty diplomats and representatives from 145 countries and  international organizations, and managers of Fortune Global 500 companies, gathered together to learn about an innovative and open Hunan.

Mr. Wang Yi, state councilor and minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the event. Mr. Du Jiahao, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, delivered a speech. Mr. Qi Yu, secretary of the CPC Committee of MFA, attended. Mr. Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, made a presentation.

Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Santiago Sta. Romana, and Uganda Ambassador to China Chrispus Kiyonga, deliered speeches. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu; Hunan provincial leaders Wu Lan, Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Chen Fei, and Peng Guofu; and leading officials of Chinese ministries, commissions and other provinces and regions, were present. 

The event presented Hunan's notable achievements in economic and social development over the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.

It also showed that Hunan has vigorously integrated itself into the implementation of the “Belt and Road” Initiative; and leveraged its geographical advantages of being a transitional zone from China’s eastern coastal areas to the central and western areas, and the junction zone of the Yangtze River Open Economic Belt and the Coastal Open Economic Belt. A new development pattern has taken shape. 

This event provided a platform for all parties to have a better understanding of Hunan, and deepen Hunan’s friendship and cooperation with other countries.
