Mayor Li Attends Intangible Cultural Heritage Evening Gala

On September 5, an intangible cultural heritage evening gala was grandly held at Yueyang Tower Scenic Area. Li Aiwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and mayor of Yueyang City, attended and conferred plaques to intangible cultural heritage protection units. Chen Yuanping, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, municipal leaders including Ma Na, Peng Xianzheng, Qiu Hong, Liu Xiaoying, Kong Fujian, and Liu Chuanhan, secretary-general of the Yueyang Municipal People¡¯s Government, and other citizens watched these wonderful performances featuring national customs and regional characteristics.

The evening gala is part of Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition. With Yueyang Tower as the main stage background, it featured intangible cultural heritage performances integrating traditional dance, music, and drama, martial arts, and operas. 

Twelve national intangible cultural heritage items and two provincial ones were performed during the gala. The national items included Chengbu hanging dragon dance, Xinhua folk songs, Youshui boatmen haozi (Miao folk songs), Changde silk string art, Lusheng music of Dong nationality, Kunqu opera, Hunan opera, flower-drum opera, Han opera, Qi opera, Baling opera, and Miao drum dance. The provincial ones are Dong¡¯an martial arts and Dong folk songs.
