Xiangyin Helong Lake Crayfish Festival Opens

The 2019 Xiangyin Helong Lake Crayfish Festival opened on June 13.Many activities were held at Helonghu Town, which is known as a town of crab and crayfish. Events include a crayfish-themed banquet, Xiangyin ingredients exhibition, a crayfish cooking contest attending by top 10 restaurants, a crayfish eating contest. More than 10,000 people participated, including catering businessmen, Hunan cuisine chefs, persons in charge of restaurants with good reputation, and tourists.

The event was hosted by the CPC Xiangyin County People’s Committee, and the Xiangyin People’s Government, and organized by the Helonghu Town People’s Government and Daxiangcai Newspaper. It aimed to build a Yueyang crayfish IP and make Helonghu a beautiful town of crab and crayfish.

“The Helong Lake Crayfish Festival is a gathering event for tasting delicious lobsters, displaying local specialties, and spreading catering brands, and a cooperation platform to promote crayfish industry, facilitate integration of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, and fuel rural vitalization,” said Xiangyin Head Li Zhenjiang. Li added that Xiangyin will focus on the development of “crayfish + gourmet”, “crayfish + tourism”, “crayfish + ingredients” industries, and strives to foster a lake food industry, Xiangyin agriculture industrialization characteristic town, and a national green food production base with excellent quality and credibility.
