Hunan Provincial River Chiefs Meeting Held in Yueyang

The Hunan Provincial River Chiefs Meeting was held in Yueyanglou District. Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe attended.

On June 10, Xu Dazhe, Hunan governor and provincial river chief, led a team to learn about the environmental protection and pollution control of the Yangtze River and East Dongting Lake in Yueyang. He then attended the 2019 provincial river chiefs meeting.

Sui Zhongcheng, Hunan vice governor and provincial deputy river chief, presided. Chen Fei, vice governor and Yangtze River-Hunan Section river chief, and Wang Qun, secretary general of the Hunan Provincial People¡¯s Government, also attended.

In the morning, participants visited: Chenglingji; Xingang; Yueyanglou;, and Junshan Districts; Huarong County; and elsewhere, to examine the following:

-Tianxin Wharf remediation;
-Donfeng Lake section of Dongting lake watercraft garbage collection;
-Hualong Wharf ecological restoration;
-Wetland restoration and improvements in Yanjiang Village, Guangxingzhou Town, Junshan District, and four canal drainage treatment areas; and,
-No.1 Tianzi section shoreline upgrade of the Yangtze River in Huarong County.

They learned about the Yueyang River Chief system (hezhangzhi) implementation which promotes environmental protection and pollution control measures in the southern reaches of the Yangtze River and in East Dongting Lake.

In the afternoon, the meeting was held in Yueyanglou District. There was a report on the work of the Hunan river chief system and work reports by river chiefs for all of Hunan¡¯s 13 cities and 1 prefecture. Those in charge of the relevant provincial departments and bureaus and responsible comrades of the cities and prefecture also attended.
