Yueyang Celebrates 48th World Environment Day
Yueyang launched celebrations for the 48th World Environment Day which falls on June 5. Wan Yuebin, deputy director of the Yueyang Municipal People¡¯s Congress Standing Committee, and Yueyang Vice Mayor Li Zuofeng, were present.
Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2019 is ¡°Beat Air Pollution¡±. China is the global host of the World Environment Day this year, with a local theme of ¡°Beautiful China, I am doing my part¡±.
Vice Mayor Li marked that, every people holds the responsibility to protect environment. This year, Yueyang¡¯s priorities will be put on the following three aspects ¨C Dongting Lake ecological environment renovation; urban area air quality improvement; and, drinking water source security assurance. All the residents are called to take active participation in the environmental protection campaign, to contribute to the planet we live on, and build Yueyang a happy and harmonious home.
