Hunan¡¯s Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Achievements Displayed

The main event of the Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Publicity and Exhibition, themed ¡°China¡¯s practice for protecting intangible cultural heritage¡±, was launched on June 3, 2019. It aimed to celebrate the coming Cultural and Natural Heritage Day which falls on June 8 this year, enhance the public awareness of intangible cultural heritage protection, and promote Hunan¡¯s brilliant traditional culture. The event showcased Hunan¡¯s achievements and experience in protecting the intangible cultural heritages over the past 15 years.

Hunan launched intangible cultural heritage protection in an all-round way since 2005. Various exhibitions and publicity activities will be held to show the protection and promotion achievements, including:
At the Hunan Cultural Center:
- Hunan intangible cultural heritage protection achievement exhibition;
- Traditional handicrafts exhibition; and,
- Photography exhibition;
At the Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall in Yuhua District:
- Themed lectures;
- Debate competitions; and,
- Intangible cultural heritage item shows.
Nearly 200 publicity activities will be held around Hunan¡¯s 14 cities and prefecture, to display the geologically indication specialties, such as traditional snacks of Changsha¡¯s Fire God Palace Restaurant; Hengyang¡¯s Junling handmade food (Zongzi); pickles in jars in Youxian County; Xiangtan¡¯s Long (dragon) Brand Soy Sauce; Shaoyang¡¯s Wugang pot-stewed dishes; Yueyang¡¯s Changle Tianjiu (sweet wine); and Changde¡¯s Lei Cha (ground tea).
