Record Travel Rush Seen over Labor Day Holiday

During the past Labor Day holiday, a travel rush was seen in various modes of transportation. The Hunan Expressway Network Monitoring and Command Center, the Changsha South (High-speed) Railway Station, and the Hunan Airport Corporation, published the Labor Day holiday travel data on May 5. High-speed railway, expressway, and civil aviation had record new traffic flows.   

Between May 1 and 4, 3.295 million vehicles per day went through Hunan expressway toll stations, up 14% over last year. The travel peak was May 1, with passenger flow increasing by 18.9% over last year, and 2.3 times as much as daily, non-holiday, flow.

There were 1.32 million trips through Hunan's 18 high-speed railway stations between April 30 and May 4, up 21.8% over last year. On May 1,167,000 travelers went through the Changsha South Railway Station, a new record for daily passenger flow.

During this four-day holiday, Hunan¡¯s 8 airports handled 391,000 trips, up 18.6% over last year¡¯s Labor Day (April 29 and May 2). Changsha Huanghua International Airport handles a total of 305,000, an increase of 13.86% over last year.
