Chenglingji Makes All-out Efforts to Build “the Most Beautiful Riverbank Along the Yangtze River”

Chenglingji New Port Area has made full efforts to build “the most beautiful riverbank along the Yangtze River” during the favorable period of abundant rainfall in this spring.

Vegetation restoration covers an area of 848 mu (56 ha.), with 11,437 trees and 1,513 meters of vines, 120,000 cubic meters of mulching soil, 3,820 meters of grass tiles, and 948 meters of flower beds. This costs 48.29 million CNY.

Chenglingji New Port Area is located at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Dongting Lake. It is home to 15 state-owned and private enterprises along its 11.9-km-long riverbank. From May to July 2018, the area took compressive measures to shut down, merge and transfer wharfs. It closed or rectified ten wharfs management units, and shut down 21 berths. The measures were carried out in accordance with the important principle of “putting restoring the ecological environment of the Yangtze River at a dominant position, making all-out efforts to protect it, and forbidding large-scale development of the river” made by General Secretary Xi Jinping; and the Hunan and Yueyang governments’ port renovation plan along the Yangtze River. 

To achieve the goal of “protecting the Yangtze River and promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt”, Chenglingji New Port Area will continue to adhere to high starting point planning, high-level opening up and high-quality development, and promote ecological environment and green development along the Yangtze River.
