Tree Planting Activity Held

On March 12, Yueyang municipal leaders, together with cadres, the mass, and volunteers, attended a voluntary tree-planting activity on the bank of the Yangtze River. The move embodies that Yueyang prioritizes ecology and highlights green development.

The event was attended by Li Aiwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee and mayor of Yueyang, municipal leaders including Chen Ailin, Xu Xinchu, Tang Daoming, Li Wei, Tan Zhenghong, and Wu Xiaobo.

An hour later, about 60 mu (4-ha) of more than 1,100 trees like cherry blossoms, crape myrtle, privet, and photinia fraseri were planted neatly on the outward side of the Yangtze River embankment.

Li Aiwu and her accompany also conducted inspections on the river embankment. Relevant person in charge said that, this year, Yueyang will take the opportunity of voluntary tree planting to promote the regreening project along the Yangtze River shoreline. It plans to plant 13,500 mu (900 ha.) of wave break forest and dyke protection forest along the Yangtze River.
