E-commerce Fuels Lixiang Specialty Sales Growth

On November 25, staff working for package service at the Xiaofengxian Fishing Gear Center¡¯s warehouse were quite busy. A female employer surnamed Zhang and her other 25 colleagues were packing the goods according to different categories. They have them scanned before delivery. Zhang said: "Over 4,000 parcels of goods are sent nationwide daily. The annual sales of the center reach more than 50 million CNY." Xiaofengxian Fishing Gear Center is located in the Fishing Gear (Buoy) E-commerce Industrial Park, Linxiang City.

In recent years, Linxiang government has introduced relevant preferential policies to support its e-commerce development. One-million-yuan fund has been allocated annually by the Linxiang Finance Department to support the construction of e-commerce platform and professional training. Each Township (Neighborhood) has set up special funds to support the construction and popularization of e-commerce platform service system. The city has also integrated the resources of business, human resources and social security, and other departments to give e-commerce training for over 1,000 people. The move helps over 200 people achieve e-commerce employment and entrepreneurship. Fifty-eight rural e-commerce service stations have been constructed in 14 townships (Neighborhoods) of the city. The whole city has gain access to e-commerce service after the integration of rural e-commerce service stations, financial-based poverty alleviation stations and service points to help farmers withdraw money.

Linxiang City has introduced Alibaba, Jingdong Mall and other well-known e-commerce platforms to have e-commerce enterprises located in two major bases: Urban E-commerce Operation Center and the Fishing Gear (Buoy) E-commerce Industrial Park. Twenty-eight enterprises have already settled in the latter base, of which 9 are identified as provincial e-commerce enterprises. A large logistics distribution center has been completed; 60-odd logistics express enterprises and individual sites have been developed, equipped with over 1,000 logistics distribution vehicles; more than 1,000 enterprises and individual online stores opened on the network platform with over 5,000 people engaged in e-commerce service. Over 80% of new types of agricultural businesses have access to e-commence, and the annual turnover of e-commerce reached over 3.3 billion CNY.

The county¡¯s characteristic industry grows rapidly thanks to the booming e-commerce. The number of Linxiang buoy manufacturing enterprises has increased from 105 in 2012 to more than 590 now. There are 136 bamboo processing enterprises who owned online stores. In 2012, the total output value of fishing gear (buoy) in Linxiang was only 120 million CNY, while it increased to 3 billion CNY last year. The total output value of bamboo products rose from 500 million CNY to 3.3 billion CNY. The total output value of tea products also grew nearly twice as it used to be in five years.
