Yueyang Mayor Li Aiwu visited Hongqiao, Shiniuzhai, Longmen, Changshou Towns and Mujin Township of Pingjiang County on November 12, to observe and supervise the poverty alleviation work. She emphasized that poverty alleviation has reached a critical stage. It was necessary to thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping's important discussions on targeted poverty alleviation; adhere to the precise strategy; focus on industrial prosperity; implement supporting policies; and unite all forces to resolutely win the fight against poverty, she added. Municipal leader Liu Xiaoying and relevant officials participated in the event.

Pingjiang County is the first batch of national key poverty alleviation and development counties in the province. Mayor Li is very concerned about how effective it is to get rid of poverty. She pointed out that its poverty alleviation work was a major issue of the whole city and the province, and called for full implementation of this year's objectives.

Li and her entourage also went to Fushou Village in Longmen Town and Guofu Village in Changshou Town on the same day, to study on-site the industry-aided poverty alleviation, dilapidated houses renovation, rural tourism, and poor households withdrawal progress. They visited poorer households. She believed that it was necessary to raise political awareness, recognize difficult challenges, and set a goal to work hard and fulfill it, and to resolutely win the fight against poverty.
