Hunan Industry Maintains Sound Development

Hunan industry above designated size is developing rapidly. Its added value in August increased by 7.4% year on year, and the growth rate accelerated for three consecutive months. The data was announced by the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics on September 27, 2018.

The progress is mainly credited to the strong driving force of the manufacturing industry and the continued growth of the “two high” (high-processing and high-tech) industries. In August, among the three major provincial industries above designated size, manufacturing production grew the fastest, with the added value increasing by 8.0% year on year. The growth rate was the highest since March this year. The added value of electricity, heating, and gas production and supply, and mining industry dropped and decreased respectively. The added value of provincial high-processing and high-tech industries grew by 11.1% and 21.0% respectively. Both achieved the highest growth rate this year and contributed to the development of large-scale industrial development.

Hunan industry has generally kept a good development momentum. Thirty-one of the 39 major industries above designated size maintained a year-on-year increase in value added, and the industry grew by nearly 80%. Among those industrial products above designated size included in the statistics, 51.2% realized increased production.
