Expressways Not to Be Toll-Free During Mid-Autumn Festival
The Hunan Expressway Network Operation Monitoring and Command Center (Center) announced on September 19th that during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (from 22nd to 24th), expressways will not be toll-free to vehicles. During the three-day holiday, Changsha-Yiyang Expressway will implement traffic control in different periods of time.
The Center judged that the traffic volume of the provincial road network will be expected to gradually grow starting from the afternoon of the 21st. The traffic volume in a few toll stations (such as the Changsha West Toll Station) might be in a blowout situation, which is prone to slow traffic and congestion. On the 24th, the holiday peak, it will be expected to reach a peak around 4:00 pm that day. So it is advisable that drivers return in advance and avoid the peak rush. It is estimated that the total flow at expressway entrances and exits of the whole province will reach around 6.35 million, 30% higher than usual.
According to the comprehensive study and judgment of historical and public data combined, the Changsha-Yiyang Expressway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway, Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, Changsha-Yongzhou Expressway, Changsha-Zhuzhou Expressway, and Changsha-Shaoshan-Loudi Expressway, will be the main sections that are prone to congestion and slow traffic during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
From 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the 21st, from 9:00 am to 12:00 am on the 22nd, and from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the 24th, the department of highway traffic management will implement traffic control in different periods of time in such toll stations along the Changsha-Yiyang Expressway as Youren, Guanshan, Jinzhou, Ningxiang, and Yiyang (original Xiangjiang West) toll stations, and prohibit vehicles from entering Changsha-Yiyang Expressway. At other times, temporary control measures will be taken when necessary.
