Fifth Hunan Crayfish Festival Opens

Chefs cook crayfish.

On July 11, the 5th Hunan Crayfish Festival opened in Changsha. More than 20 well-known crayfish restaurants from cities like Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Yueyang, Yiyang, Changde, and Huaihua attended the festival. More than 5 tons of delicious crayfish are served every day.

The festival this year will take on a new look. The crayfish brand will be better promoted with more public participation and crayfish restaurant cooperation. It is hoped that the crayfish industry will be an engine for Hunan¡¯s economic development growth.

Agricultural aquaculture experts will conduct field inspections of water sources and crayfish quality, and provide scientific breeding training for farmers during the festival.

It will be held at Lanxiu Town, Meixi Lake between July 11 and 15, and at Outlets of Hunan Friendship & Apollo between August 1 and 5. A number of hands-on activities will be held, including food-themed games, sci-tech interaction, and flash mob. The organizing committee cooperates with such platforms as sharing bicycle, car-pooling, and e-commerce for the first time to provide more convenient services.
