At present, work on Selection of Hunan Top Ten Cultural Landmarks is in progress. The selection hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture has attracted much attention of the public. More and more people are visiting and want to know about Hunan¡¯s cultural landmarks. The event will help enhance Huxiang Culture¡¯s influence and popularity.

Based on the promotion plan, representative scenic areas, book stores, theaters, streets, gardens and featured architectures can participate in the selection. They should contain the following three characteristics: profound cultural connotation; wide-ranging influence and recognition; and a rich record of the times.

Fenghuang (Phoenix) Ancient Town in Xiangxi Tujia & Miao Autonomous Prefecture

Since the launch of the selection on January 12, there are 85 candidates on the list. It includes historical and cultural landmarks like Yuelu Academy, Yueyang Tower, and Temple of Qu Yuan. Memorial halls such as Former Residence of Mao Zedong and Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and contemporary cultural landmarks including Changsha Binjiang Cultural Park and Liling Ceramics Valley are also on the list.

Two rounds of voting and experts review have been organized. Twenty candidates have been selected for the next round. Based on the scores on the introduction of the candidate, Hunan top ten landmarks in three different categories of history and culture, revolutionary culture, and modern culture will be revealed soon.
