Hunan Launces New Round of Environmental Inspections

A mobilization meeting on the first round of 2018 Hunan environmental inspections was held on June 20. The inspections will cover Hengyang, Shaoyang, Yueyang, Changde, Yiyang, Huaihua, and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Inspection teams will make 20-day-long on-site investigations into these places and check their environmental protection efforts starting from June 21 and 22.

According to the unified arrangements made by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People¡¯s Government of Hunan Province, four major environmental protection works will be inspected.

1. Rectification of feedbacks by the central government's environmental protection inspection teams and handling of petition cases; focusing on inspecting inadequate rectifications;
2. Implementation of decisions on ecological civilization construction and environmental protection made by the central government, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People¡¯s Government of Hunan Province;
3. Environmental issues and treatment, including changes in environmental quality; regional, watershed, and public-concerned environmental issues; major environmental safety problems; and,
4. Environmental protection accountability of Party committees and government departments at all levels.
