Hunan Industrial Economy Sees Good Start

The data released by the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics on March 20, 2018 shows that the added value of Hunan industry above designated sized increased by 8.1% year-on-year in the first two months. The growth rate was 0.8 percentage points higher than the previous year and 1.8 percentage points higher than the same period of last year. The industrial economy achieved a good start.

Among three major categories of the industry above designated size, manufacturing and production and supply of electricity, heating, and gas all witnessed sound progress. Both the value added and growth rate were higher than the same period last year, and 0.2 and 3.4 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

Thirty-two among 39 larger industries showed a year-on-year increase in added value. Among them, tobacco, automobile manufacturing, computer communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industries have a significant increase in the value added. Their contribution rates to the growth of the provincial industry above designated size all surpassed 10%. They contributed about 5.6% percentage points to the growth of Hunan provincial larger industry.

The industrial economy quality also improved, which is mainly reflected in the fact that the provincial large-scale industrial high-processing and high-tech industries have significantly faster value-added growth than the provincial average. The cumulative value-added of high-energy-consuming industry accounting for the proportion of the province¡¯s industrial total scale decreased by 0.6% compared with the same period of last year.
