Hunan FAI Up 12.7% in January-October Period

Growth in Hunan's fixed-asset investment (FAI) ranked 8th nationwide and 1st in central China in the first three quarters of this year, official data showed Wednesday.

In the January-October period, Hunan FAI grew 12.7% year-on-year to 2.37 trillion yuan, according to the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics. The growth was 0.1 percentage point faster from the January-September level.

In the ten-month period, investment to infrastructure, and people¡¯s wellbeing and social program maintained a strong pace, by rising 16.6% and 14.6% to 6500 and 2400 billion yuan respectively.

Significant improvement has been made in industrial investment, with increased investment growth and optimized investment structure. In the first ten months, Hunan's industrial investment totaled 814.171 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6% over the same period last year and 1.2 percentage points higher from the January-September level. Investment to manufacturing industry maintained a stable growth. Nineteen of thirty-one categories of manufacturing industry registered year-on-year growth. The upward trend in industrial technological upgrading investment maintained a stable momentum, with an investment of 449.74 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8% over the same period of the previous year. The growth was 8.3, 1.4, and 0.1 percentage points higher from the first quarter, the first half year, and the first three quarters respectively.

Progress has been made in regulating and optimizing investment environment. Between January and October, Hunan¡¯s private investment amounted to 1.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.2% over the same period last year. The growth was 9.8 percentage points higher from the same period last year. Of the 19 national counted economic sectors, private investment in 16 economic sectors grew. Private investment in culture, sports and entertainment doubled; health and social work, information transfer software and information technology services, leasing and commercial service, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors all grew by more than 37%.
