Yueyang Crayfish Festival to Open

The 2019 Hunan (Yueyang) Crayfish Industry Expo (Yueyang Crayfish Festival) Main Events will take place between May 24 and 28. The festival is hosted by the Yueyang Municipal People's Government.

Themed “Visiting Yueyang Tower, Tasting Yueyang Crayfish”, the festival aims to increase the brand influence of ‘Yueyang crayfish’ and promote Yueyang’s crayfish industry and the all-for-one tourism.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to be held at Qianlianghu Town, Junshan District on May 24, in which a crayfish catching event, which will be made with the world’s longest lazy arm; a chef contest on crayfish cooking; and lake food tasting will be arranged. A series of theme activities including a crayfish tasting and a crayfish eating contest will be held on Baling Square, Yueyanglou District, from May 24 to 18.

The festival will conclude on June 18 in Huarong County. During the month-long festival, Yueyang’s main crayfish producers will join hands with its scenic spots to launch a series of theme activities. These help promote integration of Yueyang tourism and crayfish industry, and domestically and internationally build a good image for the city in sightseeing and delicate food.
