Yueyang Museum Organizes International Museum Day Celebrations

Various cultural activities will be organized at the Yueyang Museum, to mark the coming International Museum Day on May 18.

The activities include:
- International Museum Day opening ceremony;
- Gold, silver, and jade wares exhibition
- ¡°Lei Feng¡¯s Stories¡± ¨C freehand comic strips exhibition;
- Revolutionary relics donation ceremony;
- ¡°Mobile museum¡± exhibitions in Hongshan Primary School and Jinshi Bookstore in Changhu Township, Yueyang County;
- Publicizing the Cultural Relics Protection Law, and Regulations on Museums at some enquiry sites;
- Free cultural relics identification by experts, and cultural relics knowledge popularization;
- Volunteer recruitment;
- ¡°Traditional Future ¨C Museums in My Eyes¡± painting contest;
- Museum-school cooperative painting and studies;
- Observation of Ancient China¡¯s Four Great Inventions (paper-making technology, and movable-type printing); and,
- Spot interviews by 50 teenager reporters, and outstanding interview selection. 
 
Initiated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the International Museum Day aims to promote the development of museums worldwide and attract the public to understand, participate in, and pay attention to the museum cause. The day is May 18 every year, and a theme is determined every year.

This year¡¯s theme is ¡°Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition¡±.
