The second Hunan (Yueyang) Port Economic and Trade Expo opened in Yueyang City on October 18, 2021. Vice Governor He Baoxiang delivered a speech and announced the opening. Tanzanian ambassador to China, South African ambassador to China, consul general of the Kenyan Embassy in China, consul general of the Lao PDR to Changsha (China), and other guests attended.

Vice Governor He noted that port is an intersection of domestic and international dual circulation and an important support for the development of an open economy. The  hosting of the port expo in an innovative way is an important measure to prosper the port economy, expand opening up, and deepen regional cooperation. This year's expo gives more prominence to the integration of ports and pilot free trade zones and the combination with the open economy. This conforms to the current development reality and meets the development needs of all parties.

Mr. He remarked that in recent years, Hunan Province has accelerated large port platform construction, unblocked large international trade channels, and speeded up its development pace of being an opening up frontier and a fertile soil for trade. At present, the province has established 3 national first-class ports, 7 special customs supervision areas, and 13 designated ports and supervision sites. The passenger and cargo flight routes cover five continents, and the international economic and trade ˇ°circle of friendsˇ± has expanded to more than 200 countries and regions. Hunan is now advancing the ˇ°Five Major Opening-up Actionsˇ± and is striving to promote wider, broader, and higher-level opening up.

The expo, themed ˇ°prospering port economy and deepening opening-up in the inland regionˇ±, includes three major parts: opening ceremony and forum; promotion and project contract signing; and, exhibition and presentation. Before the opening ceremony, He Baoxiang visited the exhibition pavilions. He also met with the ambassadors of South Africa, Kenya, and Laos to China, consul general of the Lao Embassy in China, and consul general of Laos in Changsha on October 17.
