It was learned from the Changsha Customs on August 21 that, Hunan¡¯s imports and exports of agricultural products amounted to 25.18 billion CNY from January to July this year, a year-on-year increase of 28.4%. Both imports and exports grew rapidly.

Hunan vegetables have been more and more popular internationally. In the first seven months, Hunan¡¯s agricultural exports were mainly vegetables, and 278,000 tons of vegetables were exported to 29 countries and regions around the world, a year-on-year increase of 28%. With the continuous advancement of the ¡°Shopping Basket Program¡± in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, there are 382 planting bases in Hunan selected on the certified list of the program, and 18 processing companies included in the processing enterprise list of the program. From January to July, Hunan¡¯s vegetable exports to Hong Kong accounted for 74.2% of the total vegetable exports.

More than 90% of Hunan's agricultural imports and exports were concentrated in Yueyang, Changsha, and Yongzhou. In the first seven months, Yueyang¡¯s import and export of agricultural products accounted for nearly half of the total amount of the agricultural imports and exports of the province. Changsha¡¯s imports and exports of agricultural products were 7.63 billion CNY, accounting for about one third of the total agricultural imports and exports of the province. Yongzhou¡¯s imports and exports of agricultural products reached 3.26 billion CNY, almost all of which were exports.

In the first 7 months, Hunan¡¯s imported agricultural products were mainly grains such as soybeans and corn. According to the analysis by the Changsha Customs, since this year, the number of live pigs in Hunan province has increased by 32.4% over the same period last year. Soybeans, corn, and other grains are the main raw materials for pig feeding, which has led to the increased demand for import. Between January and July, Hunan¡¯s imports of soybeans and corn grew by 37.3% and 190% year-on-year respectively.
