Yueyang Chenglingji Port Throughput Surges in H1

It was learned from the Hunan Port Group Co., Ltd., which is part of the Hunan Xiangshui Group on July 27 that the Chenglingji Port completed 309,000 TEUs of container throughput, 12.624 million tons of bulk cargo in and out of the port, and transshipped 83,000 sets of ro-ro commodity trucks in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 51%, 25%, and 47% respectively. In June, the volume of incoming and outgoing bulk cargoes was 2.475 million tons, a record high in a single month.
　　
Chenglingji Port is one of the eight deep-water ports on the Yangtze River and the only national first-class port in Hunan Province. In December 2018, the Hunan Port Group Co., Ltd. was established and located in the Chenglingji New Port Area, in order to speed up the integration of port and shipping resources in the province. In the first half of 2021, the group opened up the “Yueyang-Hong Kong” direct near-ocean route in the container sector, and the “Yueyang-Chongqing” and “Yueyang-Yichang” western routes of COSCO and Hunan Yujiang. It created a “Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Chongqing to Yueyang” rail and water combined transport logistics route. It also opened up the Hunan-Africa “water-to-water” relay route, the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa water-rail-sea combined transport channel, and a new land-sea channel in central China.

The Hunan Port Group has established marketing stations in Lianyuan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Pingxiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and Lengshuijiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., to strengthen communication with customers and expand bulk cargo sources. The volume of ore transfers increased by 30.1%. It has collected customer difficulties and pain points, strived for lower rail freight discounts, and added new stations and types of goods, to further optimize the port customs clearance environment and stimulate market potential. In the first half of this year, the daily unloading volume of Yueyang Chenglingji New Port Company was as high as 40,000 tons, and the company received 802 natural containers daily, both hitting historical highs.
