Chenglingji Designated Port Ranks Third Nationwide in Inland Frozen Meat Import

Chenglingji meat import port has been operated for three years since it was approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine (AQSIQ) as a designated port in November 2014. Hunan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau announced on December 19 that the designated port is functioning well and have imported 7,350.3 tons of frozen meat worth more than 96.4million CNY from 13 countries. The imported frozen meat covered more than 20 varieties, such as pork, beef, mutton, and poultry meat.

As the only meat import designated port in Hunan, Chenglingji witnessed an increase in frozen meat imports. Among China's 11 approved inland ports for meat import, Chenglingji¡¯s imports so far ranked third, following Zhangjiagang and Nanjing.

The designated port stimulated the development of related industries. The number of enterprises that has obtained meat import permission in Hunan increased from 13 in 2014 to 67 in 2017. With the development of the designated port, supporting projects in related industries are promoted, including international agricultural products logistics industrial park, bonded refrigeration storage, and Forsun Group¡¯s beef processing. The designated ports also enriched the consumer market.
