Spring Fishing Ban Begins in Hunan

As of March 1 to June 30, a spring fishing ban takes effect on Dongting Lake, in water areas along the Yangtze River mainstream and Pearl River. During this fishing moratorium period, all fishing activities and selling prohibited fishing gear and catch are not allowed in these areas, in an effort to achieve the goal of ˇ°no fishing boat on lake, no fishing net in waters, and no lake fish in marketˇ±.
The annual spring fishing ban is conductive to restoring and rehabilitating habitats for fish and freshwater porpoises.
